On Home

On Home is a 50-minute interdisciplinary contemporary dance performance, exploring the journey of losing, seeking, and finding home.

This new work, collaboratively choreographed by the Voices Dance Project’s eight dancers, centers freedom and control, comfort and discomfort, displacement and rootedness, belonging and alienation to ask audiences: How do we reconcile our feelings of comfort and belonging in a place that is no longer safe for us? When we lose all that we know, how do we build again? Who are we when we emerge from the journey of leaving, seeking and finding home? What identities do we shed? What remains of us?

On Home is set to an original score by Ottawa-based composer Jack Hui Litster, performed live by Jack Hui Litster (percussion, electronics), Michelle Gott (harp), and Kathryn Patricia Cobbler (looping viola). It is the Voices Dance Project’s second full-length performance since its debut in October 2023.
